Swarovski Kristallwelten [ENA] Only 20 kilometres from Innsbruck, in the Tyrolean town of Wattens, Swarovski Kristallwelten offers one of Austria’s most distinctive encounters with art, design, fantasy, and spectacle. It is not a museum in the conventional sense, nor simply a branded visitor centre. Rather, it is an elaborate world of perception: a place where crystal becomes a medium through which international artists and designers explore light, memory, identity, glamour, grief, and imagination. Grafenegg [ENA] Korngold’s Die tote Stadt is an opera that asks for more than vocal splendour: it needs psychological precision, orchestral imagination, and a rare ability to preserve the work’s febrile tension without allowing its luxuriant score to dissolve into decorative sound. In this concert interpretation, the Tonkünstler-Orchester Niederösterreich under Dmitri Jurowski met that challenge with remarkable confidence.
